Pain-Free & Balanced Riding

Dual-certified physiotherapy for rider and horse joined into a 5-module program

Because pain-free, high-level riding starts with two bodies working as one.

Developed and guided by a dual-certified human & equine physiotherapist,
two-time European Champion and seven-time Belgian Champion
.

An elite-level approach to pain-free riding and performance

Pain, imbalance or stagnating performance in riding rarely originate from the rider or the horse alone.
They emerge from the interaction between both bodies.

This program treats the rider–horse combination as one integrated system, addressing the true causes of pain, asymmetry and inefficiency — not just the symptoms.

What makes this program unique?

I am certified in both human and equine physiotherapy and have competed at the highest level of equestrian sport.
As a two-time European Champion and seven-time Belgian Champion, I understand the physical, mental and biomechanical demands placed on both rider and horse — not in theory, but in daily training and competition.

This combination of clinical expertise and championship-level experience allows me to design targeted, realistic and sustainable solutions for rider–horse combinations — whether the goal is pain-free riding or peak performance.

This allows me to:

  • identify subtle biomechanical issues others may miss

  • understand how rider and horse compensate for each other

  • translate physiotherapy directly into improved performance

No fragmented care.

No guesswork.
One integrated system.

Who is this for?
  • Competitive riders aiming for sustainable high performance

  • Riders with recurring pain despite previous treatment or training

  • Rider–horse combinations struggling with asymmetry or imbalance

  • Riders who want to progress without overloading their body

Common challenges include:

  • chronic lower back, hip or pelvic pain

  • one-sidedness in rider or horse

  • recurring issues despite “correct” training

  • performance plateaus

The integrated rider-horse approach

One system. One strategy.

Rider assessment & treatment

  • postural and movement analysis

  • mobility, stability and asymmetry screening

  • physiotherapy treatment tailored to riding demands

Horse assessment & treatment

  • movement and symmetry analysis

  • evaluation of muscular tension and restrictions

  • equine physiotherapy treatment when indicated

Integration into riding

  • seat correction and balance work

  • adaptation of training tasks

  • coordinated progression for rider and horse

Program structure - 5 integrated modules (12w)
  • comprehensive rider and horse assessment

  • targeted physiotherapy treatment for both when required

  • mobility, stability and coordination training

  • saddle-based integration and refinement

  • personalised maintenance and injury-prevention plan

This is not a collection of sessions, but a fully guided performance pathway.

Module 1 — Integrated Rider–Horse Assessment

Understanding the system

A comprehensive assessment of both rider and horse:

  • postural and movement analysis of the rider

  • mobility, stability and asymmetry screening

  • movement and symmetry analysis of the horse

  • identification of compensatory patterns between both

This module forms the foundation of the entire program.

Module 2 — Mobility & Tension Regulation

Creating freedom of movement

Addressing restrictions that limit correct riding:

  • rider mobility and relaxation strategies

  • breathing and tone regulation

  • equine physiotherapy to restore movement and physical function of the horse

Goal: free, supple movement in both bodies.

Module 3 — Stability, Symmetry & Control

Building a resilient system

Developing:

  • rider core stability and postural control

  • left–right symmetry in rider and horse

  • controlled strength without stiffness

This module ensures the rider–horse combination can maintain balance under load.

Module 4 — Integration into Riding & Training

Translating therapy into performance

Applying improvements directly to riding:

  • seat correction and balance optimisation

  • refinement of aids and coordination

  • training adaptations based on current rider–horse capacity

This is where changes become functional and automatic.

Module 5 — Performance Optimisation & Prevention

Sustaining results

Final integration and long-term strategy:

  • reassessment and progress evaluation

  • personalised maintenance and prevention plan

  • guidance for training load and competition periods

Goal: lasting pain-free riding and sustainable performance.

What can you expect?
After completing the program, riders commonly experience:
  • pain-free riding or significant pain reduction

  • improved symmetry and balance in rider and horse

  • more efficient movement and clearer communication

  • higher performance with less physical strain

  • reduced risk of recurring injuries for both rider and horse

Hybrid guidance — in person & online

This program combines hands-on physiotherapy with targeted online sessions.
Online sessions are used for education, exercise progression, video analysis and strategic guidance, ensuring continuity between in-person treatments and long-lasting results.

Why treating both rider and horse matters

Treating only the rider often leads to recurring problems.
Treating only the horse leaves the rider compensating.

By addressing both sides of the partnership, results become:

  • faster

  • more sustainable

  • performance-driven
